Freemasons wins Publican award

25 Jun 2010

Freemasons Country Inn, Wiswell, is proud to announce winning the category of Pub Design of the Year at the recent Publican Awards.

The trade’s finest were celebrated at the industry event, where the nation’s top licensees, pubs and companies picked up their trophies in a glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House in London.

Judges said Freemasons “showed flair and creative innovation while remaining appropriate to the building and area”.

Chef/Patron Steven Smith commented that he was delighted with the win, which recognised the unique charm and character synonymous with Freemasons.
Steven is the quintessential ‘local lad who’s done well’. Originally from Blackburn, Steve had cooked at several Michelin starred restaurants before opening the Freemasons Country Inn as Chef/Patron, which has been restored and refurbished with breathtaking results.

Steven is passionate about our native and natural larder and is renowned for his skill as a chef and for his creative use of quality seasonal produce. His motto is simply ’only the best will do’ and this is evident in both the eating and the presentation of his dishes.
Freemasons is a true English country inn with its flag floors, period furniture, antique paintings and prints, and real fires all combining to create a warm and friendly atmosphere in which to relax and indulge yourself.

At the bar you will find a selection of excellent cask conditioned ales from award-winning independent breweries together with a superb cellar of over two hundred and fifty fine wines from around the world.

There are several dining areas, including two for private dining, or you may just wish to enjoy a coffee in the comfort of an old leather wing chair in the gun room.

Whatever you decide, if you are looking to enjoy excellent food, cask ales, fine wines and a great ambience, you will find them all at Freemasons Country Inn.
