Freemasons at Wiswell included in 2017 Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards

The Freemasons at Wiswell has continued a stellar year with its inclusion in the 2017 Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, taking 77th place. The gastropub was only of two venues from Lancashire to make the top 100, with Moor Hall in Aughton taking the 70th spot.

Now in its 10th year, the annual awards recognise the top 100 restaurants in the UK as voted by 180 top chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, critics, food experts and gastronomes. The Sportsman in Kent took the top spot for the second successive year, with Jason Atherton winning Restaurateur of the Year and Claude Bosi taking Chefs’ Chef of the Year.

 In a list which saw only 11 restaurants in the North of England feature in the top 100, including the likes of L’Enclume in Cumbria, The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds and Sticky Walnut in Chester, The Freemasons was described as ‘surprising as it was delicious.’

The quality and creativity of the Freemasons menus has established the pub as one of the country’s top dining destinations, a status firmly backed up by a number of additional accolades, including The Sunday Times Top 100 listing, a top five finish in this year’s Top 50 Gastropubs and a seven out of 10 in the Waitrose Good Food Guide, which made them the first pub in history to receive this score.
