Freemasons at Wiswell in Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants Lancashire gastropub enjoys national recognition

08 Feb 2017

The Freemasons at Wiswell has continued to prove it can hold its own as one of the country’s best restaurants, with inclusion in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants at the weekend.

In a list which saw only nine restaurants in the North West make it in to the top 100, The Freemasons was described as offering ‘clever cooking that people can relate to’ and that food is served with ‘finesse, justified confidence and a generosity of spirit – no twee ‘fine dining’ portions here.’

The quality and creativity of the Freemasons menus has established the pub as one of the country’s top dining destinations, a status firmly backed up by The Sunday Times listing, a top five finish in this year’s Top 50 Gastropubs and a seven out of 10 in the Waitrose Good Food Guide, which made them the first pub in history to receive this score. The Freemasons was also featured in this weekend’s Observer, as the lead focus in a piece which celebrates Lancashire’s success in this year’s Top 50 Gastropubs.

Head Chef Steven Smith said; “We’ve had an absolutely incredible start to 2017 and I’m delighted The Freemasons is flying the flag for Lancashire and indeed the North West with our inclusion in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants. Our ambition is to keep improving our offer year on year and I really believe we’ve done that with both our menus and our service. I truly believe the sky is the limit for The Freemasons and I’m excited to see what 2017 has instore for us.”
