He lives!

Hello!  I have to apologise again for not providing any ‘food for thought’ for the last few months.  It’s been a manic year so far, which is great, but it’s meant I’ve got behind with keeping you updated on all the great things we have going on!

Our new summer menus have just been introduced.  I love this time of year, the abundance of produce makes for a chef’s treasure trove.  Wonderful strawberries, heritage tomatoes, Jersey Royals – all the best bits of British summer (now we just need some sun).

On Friday last week I went down to the capital to the Taste of London Festival for the first time.  Luckily the rain held off for the most part!  I found it very interesting – they have a great set up in Regent’s Park and many of the capital’s top restaurants were exhibiting.  It was great to see Tim Allen in his new role as Head Chef at Launceston Place – I was lucky enough to be given a cheeky sample of his slow-cooked pork belly with apple jam, truffle mash and pork popcorn.  I also met the charming Vivek Singh from The Cinnamon Club, which was a real pleasure.  The event seemed like the Henley/Ascot of food festivals – upmarket and a great, social day out for everyone.

Here at the pub things are going great guns.  We’ve just been awarded 2 AA Rosettes in our first entry in the AA Guide.  We’re really positive about this and I’m confident that we can see our rating grow swiftly.  We have a fantastic new Head Pastry Chef – Mandy – and a few more great new additions to the team, who I’ll be introducing shortly (keep an eye on ‘The Team’ page).  We’ve also been busy drafting up some new events for you all – like the Summer BBQ on August bank holiday Monday, which will be a fantastic, community affair, and also our next Chippy Tea on September 4th.

All in all, great things ahead!

Until next time.
